I have it too and I have to take my blood sugar. That is the only way to know if diet and exercise is helping keep it under control. I would call your doctor about it. The dietitian I saw gave me a meter and showed me how to use it. I test my blood 4 times a day. I would suggest you call your doctor and make sure everything is as it should be! Good luck

Your doctor should have given you a prescription for a glucose meter, lancets, and testing strips. If your insurance doesn't cover them, the meters are generally inexpensive now. I've seen so many on sale and with manufacturer's rebates, you can almost get them for free. Call your doctor and ask about getting a prescription. How are you supposed to know if the diet is working for you if you are not checking your blood sugar regularly? Even with the diabetes education I was given and dietary guidelines, I still had to make some modifications to my diet to control my gestational diabetes.
I use to check my blood sugar four times per day.
1) First thing in the morning before any food or drink - sugar level should be below 100.
2 - 4) An hour after breakfast, lunch & dinner - sugar level should be below 140 after an hour or below 120 after 2 hours (be consistant with your testing - either 1 or 2 hours, it helps your doctor check your numbers easier.)
Although it took some discipline and adjustment, I was able to manage my gestational diabetes. I was thankful I did because in additon to keeping my baby healthy, I believe it helped me to lose all of my pregnancy weight very quickly. Good luck.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

I had that too in my last trimester, and they provided me with a blood sugar meter and I had to keep checking it every meal and annotate that the results on a chart that I would give to the Dr, on the my next visit. And they also send me to nutrition classes, so I would learn how to diet and why, I suggest you to call your Dr, and ask why he didn't do any of this, maybe is that your GD is not as aggressive or that your insurance doesn't cover all that and that's why he didn't even bother to let you know of all this, but call him ASAP and find out remember this is for your baby's and your own health

Also, read "Sugar Buster" (or the GI Diet) and follow the diet. It's easy. Just cut back on sugar, processed white flour, white potatoes, corn and it should help get your sugar back to normal.
Eat more fruits and vegetables, eat whole grain breads and cereals, drink diet soda instead of regular soda or juice...again, it's very easy to apply the diet.

I had GD as well. I had to check my blood sugar 5 times a day. You might want to call your Dr. to clarify. Without checking it, you have no way to know if your blood sugar is within a normal range.
