Tony's got it right.
I believe there cannot be a single solution to all problems.
With newer humanitarian needs and problems the systems of governance need to evolve at a faster pace. Socialism too needs to evolve.
Kerala and West Bengal in India, traditional bastions of the Communist parties, are real political cauldrons and crucibles that will shape the Socialism of tomorrow.

Socialism has not become irrelevant. But what is irrelevant is the mode of achieving socialism through centralised economy as envisaged by Marx (Marxism). Marxism is against the basic instinct of selfishness in human beings. The only way to achieve socialism in a democratic way is through biological socialism by adopting eugenic policies. However, it will remain as a mirage as absolute socialism is both unnecessary and impractical.

mankind is never happy with anything and is always striving for something new and in this process everything becomes irrelevant one day or another
