Can someone explain why the Phoenix Suns have zero NBA Titles in 38 years of professional basketball? They have the fourth most wins in NBA history, next to the Spurs, Celtics and Lakers.
So where are the NBA Titles? And why only 2 NBA Finals appearances in that time? True, they played very valiantly in losing both to Boston and Chicago, respectively.
But at some point this team -- this franchise -- has to get it done. We cannot be known as the Chicago Cubs of the NBA.

Suns have been to the NBA Finals in 1976 and 1993. They have reached the Western Conference Finals in 1976 (defeated Golden State 4-3; reached NBA Finals), 1979 (4-3 loss to Seattle), 1984 (4-2 loss to L.A.), 1989 (4-0 loss to L.A.), 1990 (4-2 loss to Portland), 1993 (defeated Seattle 4-3; reached NBA Finals), 2005 (4-1 loss to Spurs) and 2006 (4-2 loss to Mavericks).

The Phoenix Suns need to win an NBA Title. Phoenix is starving for a championship and the '76 Suns aren't available to play the Mavericks or Spurs. And Charles Barkley is working for TNT. Oh well. Are the Chicago Cubs available to play defense? Maybe they can break a long standing curse, too.

I don't know if you or I could explain it. [I'm kind of a football person, but I think these teams relate to the story of the Suns.] It's kinda like the Buffalo Bills in the days of O.J. Simpson or Jim Kelly, or the Dolphins in the Dan Marino era. Both teams were loaded with talent, and had a lot of record-setters on their roster, but somehow never made it to or won the big one.
I also should add the Minnesota Vikings to this comparison. They have been to four Super Bowls and numerous other NFC Championships, and lost all of those. Yet they had one of the nation's most feared defenses and great rushing and passing offenses, and always ended up short to even better teams.
You're right that the Spurs, Celtics, and Lakers have a lot of wins, and at least three titles. They also had great coaches and legends that played center. The Suns and the Bulls back in MJ's day are two teams that have become powerhouses without the help of a great center.
It would seem more likely, though, that the Suns would win the big one THIS year because they are stocked with great athletes [Nash, Marion, and Co.], have made the playoffs in the past two or three years, and, mostly, may be quite lucky like Peyton and the Colts. After all, if he who "couldn't win the big one" finally won the Super Bowl and was named MVP--and after all the NFL MVP awards and records for passing and TD's--then why not Nash and friends? This might be their year too.
At least that's what I think...
[Oh, and the Mavericks happen to be in the same paradox as the Suns. They have come up strong in the past six or seven playoffs and have never reached or won the Finals. And they have the most wins this season. And don't forget the Jazz too...a coach with 900 wins, two Finals apperances, like 20 straight playoff appearances...they might be as unlucky as the Suns.]
Call me for further details.

Don't know if its a curse, but given that over the years they have had some of the best coaches, GM and Owner, it is hard to believe they have not won. But, when you step back and look at thier history, you realize that they at one point another made some very bad trades. Dating back to when they shipped Connie Hawkins to the Lakers or Letting Alvin Adams play two years too many, or not recognizing that it might be better to keep Dennis Johnson instead of burning out Kevin Johnson. No doubt the Phx Suns have played some fo the best and most entertaining basketball. All I can say is that they will shine at the top soon.

The problem isnt that their unlucky, or cursed, the problem lies in that the regular season only decides who gets to the playoffs... here lately the suns have had amazing regular seasons putting up unbelievable offensive numbers... when it comes to post season NBA teams start to play defense, and to make it worse, they are in the tough side of the league, Dallas and San Antonio to note, play some of the best defense in the league, and when given time to prepare like they can in post season, the suns are stoppable. If they are to win a championship... it will be this year... with Amare in the middle they might be able to play a slower tempo game.

The Suns have a great history. They are not New York, Chicago or LA so they have to really earn a title.
They made the Finals in the 70s and in the 90s.
Look who beat them and why.
The Cubs are just overrated.

I don't think that the teams unlucky its just that they're in the west. To get to the finals, the suns would have to beat the Mavs.Spurs.Utah,Houston,Lakers,and denver.
But someday they will get a title. With Steve Nash, Amare, Marion, and Leandro Barbosa. ( Leandro Barbosa i think is the most improved player in the NBA. ) I think STeve Nash will win the MVP again this year.
The reason is the performance he made against the Mavs.
I'm a big Mavs fan, but i really think NASH is the MVP.

Lol@Chicago Cubs comment, but the Suns can win a title, they just need to stop being injured, and relasing players.(Even though that's not really a problem.)

Their just unlucky. They have a talented team and have good offense and defense. The only thing holding them back is bad luck.
