I was watering my potted lemon tree the other day and noticed after the water was absorbed there was a little movement in the dirt. After looking closer I saw a bunch of little what looked like centipedes of some type scurrying around. This plant is indoors so they couldn't have come from outside. Are these types of bugs usual for this tree? Does anyone know what they are? They seem to only surface after watering the plant.

if they are an inch long with tiny legs, they are millipedes and are practically harmless to the citrus plants. Even centipedes are harmless, and so are sow bugs (round to oval shape with plenty of legs also).

But if they are tiny like spots or dots scurrying about, then they are mites and mites are bad for your citruses.

Millipedes and centipedes are mostly harmless to the plant. Anything else is probably bad to the root sysytem and the tree. Could be springtails or mites....either not good.
