oh no, ignore all those...they will give you instructions that can confuse even people who already know how to crochet. The site I am leaving is a very very gfood one, she has in deoth instructions, and pictures with each step. It is free of charge, and she gives instructions for both left handed and right handed people. Also, if you don't understand something, she has an email link that she checks daily and will naswer any questions you have.

i realize you said no charge, but wal mart sells a kit with a book on how to, and it comes with the basics that you would need, for a good price, they also sell the same kit for knitting.
