My friend said over msn to uninstall my AVG and download spy shrief and install and then he told me to take a lot of files that said this file may be unsafe but he said his msn was all messed up and that the files were safe should I do all this?

SpySheriff is a system hijacker that secretly installs to victim PCs. SpySheriff causes the desktop to change and display a fake warning message that tricks users into installing the antispyware software.
SpySheriff forbids access to some web sites and may even block any attempts to connect to the Internet. SpySheriff can also disable some Windows essential components and tools such as the System Restore and the Date and Time application.

Spy Sheriff? That program is bad news. It is spyware itself! AVG is a very good program, you should not have uninstalled it.
