In general, no - you'll have to send an email to it. This will only tell you it is in use (i.e. hasn't been deleted yet).

It won't of course tell you if it is current (i.e. still in use by the user).

Some temporary problems may cause the email to bounce though (such as mail box full). Especially if the recipient has been away for a while.

Send it an email, if you get a Mailer Daemon back, it is not valid. If you don't, it's valid. Also, ask for a reply from the recipient.
