Yes, you need a GOOD pump if you are going to be working and pumping. You want something along the lines of the Medela PIS or the Ameda Purely Yours. Or you want to rent a Medela Lactina.
There is a lot of breastfeeding info at http://www.kellymom.com as well as a section on pumping.

It is worth it. I have the same pump that you mentioned and pump every day. It helps so much to have some breastmilk on hand so it doesn't feel like you have to feed on demand all the time, also so others can help with feeding the baby. I bought the Medela In Style Advanced pump when our little guy was 4 or 5 weeks old. We were wondering the same thing, but it IS worth the investment!

Yes, it is worth it. If you stop breast feeding and start using formula, the cost of the formula will be way more than the cost of the breast pump. Sometimes it can be difficult to pump especially at first. A good breast pump is really important. It will make it much easier and the pumping will go faster than with a manual pump (important if you only have 15 minutes). You should give the baby breast milk as long as possible. A good breast pump will make that easier since you can pump the milk and freeze it. One piece of advice I do have for you. If possible you should have someone else (like Dad) give the baby the bottle. The baby will probably not take the bottle from you and it will be best if someone else gives him the bottle. It might also help if you aren't even in the room the first few times. Some babies won't take a bottle if they realize that mom is nearby. Good luck to you.

I am a first-time mom who went back to work and pumps three times a day. I use that Medela pump, and it is wonderful! It works extremely well, and it is easy to store and use. If you choose a pump, I'd recommend not getting one that was used by someone else. You cannot completely sterilize the pump, and you will void any warranty on a pump that is bought from someone else.
I would seriously look at Target because that pump goes on sale A LOT through them.

Yes it will be worth it to buy a pump, though renting one is also an option. In the end renting is probably slightly cheaper and you will get a better pump BUT as you will be pumping (hopefully) 9 months or longer it will likely work out the same.
Then again your baby may refuse bottles and reverse cycle and only nurse when you are home.
But I would buy the pump, I don't think you will regret it.

It is worth it, however, there is a women's program where I live that is run by a hospital and actually rents out pumps for a reasonable price. These pumps are very clean and sanitized since it is a hospital program. There are some parts that are disposable and so they come new with the pump (the parts that touch your nipples and where the milk flows down to the bottle or bags.) Try to find out if you have a program like this where you live. It might help you save some $$.

A double pump is plenty properly genuinely worth the money, purely interior the time it saves on my own!! I owned the Medela single electric powered and then bought the Medela Swing and four weeks later bought the Medela Pump in variety purely because of fact i wanted to save on time. the ideal suggestion I certainly have considered in spite of the fact it is to lease different pumps from the medical institution first to locate a good extra healthful, then flow purchase that one. for this reason i bought the Swing grew to become into because of fact the only electric powered wasn't doing what i wanted. Pumps oddly are different for each guy or woman. you will possibly think of it pumps so because it is it. yet different women % extremely some issues, different enable down movements, or the pull of the pump. i did no longer attempt any out first so i wasted lots of money getting one which would desire to finally artwork how i wanted it. yet, in spite of you get, the double will take you 0.5 the time, so that's certainly properly genuinely worth the extra lil money. good success!!!

Yes, a good pump is wonderful, so much better than what you'll find for $34 at your local store. Before you spend the money, ask you lactation lady at the hospital, she might have one to borrow or rent. I believe they do rent them. Also, ask your friends of family. I was able to borrow a really nice one from my sister-in-law for free.
Congrats and hang in there with the nursing. It isn't always easy, but it's always WORTH IT. It's the best gift you can give your baby.

Have you looked on eBay? I purchased a breast pump from there for only $88.00 because I too am a working mother. I would pump on my half hour lunch and store the milk in an insulated bag. I would then nurse when I got home from work and would exclusively nurse on my days off. I would use the pumped milk for daycare or family outings. I would definately invest in a pump if you are going to continue to nurse when you go back to work.

I had an expensive pump when I worked as a teacher and it was totally worth it. It got the job done fast, before I had to go serve my time in the cafeteria! My sister-in-law has spent a fortune on one cheap pump after another and she still had to send formula to the babysitter's. I used an Ameda Purely Yours (comparable to the one you are looking at). I loved mine, and I never had any injuries or mechanical problems. My sister used it too and liked it.
