It is difficult to locate figures. For 2006 Ethanol Statistics:

2006 Ethanol Statistics:
* 4.86 billion gallons of production
* 5.4 billion gallons of demand
* 653 million gallons of imports, some 434 million directly from Brazil*

So you can see the US production does not even meet US demand.

Another way to look at this situation is this -- if all the US acreage that is currently planted to corn was used for producing ethanol, how much of US oil imports would be reduced?

Only 15 percent!

Ethanol is only a small part of the solution.

Certainly most of corn ethanol is produced in the U.S. The U.S. and Brazil are far ahead of all other countries in ethanol production, and Brazil uses sugar cane while the U.S. almost entirely uses corn. Probably 80 - 90% of corn ethanol is from the U.S.

There are four countries that have large scale ethanol development:

Brazil, Colombia, China, US

Almost 90 % of US ethanol are produced from corn.

i like sparkling white corn the ideal. whilst it fairly is presented in early spring summer season that's the ideal vegetable. purely prepare dinner it slightly and butter and consume. Or for something slightly diverse i like to diminish the corn of the cob and saute it with peppers and onions. Thats spectacular besides. i like carrots yet dont consume them that many times as they complicated for me to swallow. by no capacity been a great fan of cauliflower.
