Does anyone know why you shouldn't wear striped shirts to Rocky Horror?

I don't claim to be an expert, but I know more than my share about what to do and not to do at the Rocky Horror picture
show, yet this one is new to me. On the UK webpage, I saw that it is really wrong to wear striped shirts to the show, yet there was no meaning for it listed. Does anyone out there know?

I've never heard of that, when I saw the Rocky Horror Picture show a while back. All you were told to bring was newspapers,and other things.
