That all depends on the age and level of hockey. I have seen younger goalies wear mostly pajama bottoms, flanel pants with crazy patterns all over them. Most older goalies will wear something like under armour or nike dri-fit to wick away the sweat and keep them cool. Sometimes the goalie will just wear boxer or shorts and cover them up with his/her hockey sock that matches the pads they are wearing or the team colours to make everything look good. Rarely, but some do, wear nothing except boxers/underwear and chill out in bare legs. Like I said, it's all preference.

Its all about preference. Some old fashion goalies you will see wearing the team socks because as children there wasn't under armour, so they stick with what they've always wore. The socks are very uncomfortable at times though. Younger goalies tend to wear under armour because it's a modern day trend. It controls the body temperature to reduce injury and keep your muscles warm and also retains sweat better. Some goalies might wear a lucky pair of sweat pants or pajama pants but the average goalie wears spandex such as under armour.

It depends on the goalie to be honest. Sometimes its "more pads", sometimes its "under armor" or some other type of undershirt that helps keep the sweat away. A goalie's weight actually fluctuates because he loses so much water in sweat during each game. So what they're wearing should be designed to make sure that sweat doesn't make them bogged down or uncomfortable while playing between the pipes.

They wear underarmour.
It makes the equipment move around less.
It also helps sweat to evaporate away from the skin to keep then dry and cool, this process is called wicking. See the inner layer on the wikipedia article.

under armour. It's a brand of "clothing" that you can wear under pads and stuff to protect your skin from getting chafed.
