For today's installment i have a girlfriend in one corner sporting a sex addiction, lies and previous partners giving her multiple baggage and in the other corner i have my friends (and conscience) telling me to leave her coz i'm 19 and could do without the drama!
If this whole sex addiction thing is tru should i treat it like a real issue? Or could she just be hiding behind the words trying to justify her cheating ways?
Should i believe a word she even says now? How do i know when to trust her or not?

I wouldn't believe anyone who cheated on me, no matter what "reason" they gave.

No one, at any age, needs that kind of drama. I'd suggest you move on.

Well you know the old saying -- "Don't date people who have more problems than you do." Sex addiction is probably real in general, but if she's claiming an addiction is she using it to excuse bad behavior or to explain why she needs more accountability and structure? Either way, you could probably do without the daily installments.

if she is really a sex addict then she should get treatment, and the first step of this treatment forbid any kind of relationship and any kind of sexual contact, since sex addicts are not able to handle it. A sex addict in treatment has to practice abstinence for at least a year, and stay away from any kind of relationship for at least the same amount of time. So if she is really a sex addict there is no place in her life for you, and if she is not and just use it as an excuse to cheat then there is no reason for you to hang around. My advice, dump her right now.

Wow. Sounds like you've got quite the problem.

To answer your first question, yeah, things can always get more complicated. But no use worrying about that.

I think that if you truly love her, you shouldn't give up just cause she has baggage. However, if her issues are inhibiting your relationship, putting you in danger or making you uncomfortable or happy, maybe you should talk about your relationship.

But I think you should give her a second chance. Although you shouldn't leave yourself too vulnerable...confusing, eh?

Good luck. I hope you find true love in whatever form.

I don't believe in sex addiction. I think it's just some thing psychologist made up for people who can't keep their legs closed or stay out of open ones. Just leave her alone and suggest that she seek help for her "problem"!

I agree with your friends. This one isn't hard. She's not the person you want her to be.

The sex addiction might be very real, but your relationship is not. She will need to deal with her own issues before being able to participate in a relationship.

Sex additction is a very real problem and it is usually hand in hand with self hate. There is a lot of baggage there.

forget her as quickly as you can; if you're having these kinds of issues now, it will only be worse in the future. while she may have a legitimate addiction, you are under no obligation to be her 'savior' .... you should be dating and being 'eazy breezy'.... if not, you may wake up 5 years from now with this same gf

it's real..and you are far far too young to be dealing with it. let her go and go find someone who doesn't have so much going on!!
