From my past experience in growing watermelons and cant elopes, it was generally took about 4 months of a growing season. They take quite a bit of time to mature and grow. When I lived in Alabama we would plant the seeds in April and it was late August before they were ready for harvest.

You wouldn't plant them now here in the Northeast - the chance of frost killing the young plants is near ninety percent. Set 'em out the First of May and you'll pick 'em toward the end of October - unless you plant those early hibrids, some of which will be ready by mid--September.
