Where popularity is nice, it is highly over-rated. I suggest you be smart. Forget everyone who doesn't like you for everything that Danny B is. Do what you have to do to get through school. Cuz the popular kids rarely stay friends through adult hood.

Just be nice-and I don't mean too nice. Become a social butterfly and people will start to notice you more. Have you ever seen quiet people that are popular?
Remember, once you become popular, don't shrug off your old friends- that would just make you lose friends.

You cant just get popular over night, What would work is meeting new people, then if you become friends with them become friends with there friends...etc.

If you are in high school. Join clubs and you will meet lots of people. More people will want to speak to you when they see others enjoying your company. Read entertainment mags...dress in style...watch TV and you will have more things to talk about with people. Don't be pushy or weird because people can pick up on that...show more confidence while being yourself at the same time. CONFIDENCE IS KEY!!!
