I feel sorry for you. A lot of people can't work due to either a physical or emotional issue. Not all of them are looking for handouts, which is why they are not collecting social security disability or welfare benefits. You should certainly understand having self-respect and dignity. You display it with spades - as if you are uniquely better than all others.

I've never been homeless and have never asked for anyone's spare change. But that doesn't mean I have to be ignorant of the issues that occur in some people's lives that put them in those circumstances. It takes a lot more guts than you'll ever have to ask a stranger for spare change. It takes courage to play a harmonica to thosewho may or may not stop and listen or join in - and toss a quarter into your hat for the moment of music.

Stop being so self-centered. I am willing to bet you lose more money in your couch than what these unfortunate individuals would be tickled to receive.

What do I think of them? I think they are trying to better themselves any way they can. If you are afraid the money is going to go to drugs or booze, offer to buy them a sandwich. At least that way they won't die of starvation.

I bet you would help a stray dog begging for food. Why not offer the same consideration to a person?

Perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to judge. Maybe if you tried to put yourself in their place, you wouldn't be so hateful in your thinking. If someone is begging on the street and you can tell they are homeless, give them food if you have it. Give them money if you have some to spare, but make sure you give something. To hand over nothing just shows how selfish and greedy you are. I've never questioned where the money or the food was going, I simply gave it because someone needed it. Thank you and may GOD come soon to right the wrongs that have been done on this earth.

Some can't....Have you been out of work lately?....if it wasn't for my parents letting me live there I would be out on the street. But I understand where you're coming from....some beggers make more in a week that I would with a "real" job. And that's sad. But I trust God to provide and trust Him when He tells me to help and when He tells me just to walk on.
