They look good... As long as the Fluery (sp?) stays hot, perhaps.

Why not? Anything is possible. They Pens have definitely proved themselves as contenders this season. It's true that they don't have much experience at the Stanley Cup level...but with the determination they have showed thus far, why can't that take them all the way?

Who knows who will win in the end, but I sure hope the Pens raise some hell in the post-season...whatever the outcome, I'm still really impressed with the progress the team has made from last year to now...

Let's Go Pens!!!

I think their goaltending situation right now has them losing in the semifinals. Right now they would match up against the Senators. While Ottawa has massive meltdowns in the playoffs, it would still test a young defense and goalie. Plus, to get to the Cup they would have to beat the Devils and the Sabres, both of which have way more depth and experience than the Pens. Add on to the fact that the West dominated between the two conferences, I don't think the Pens can win this year. Give them a couple more seasons.

Wow, I thought more people would believe in this Cinderella team. Have people never seen youth win the Stanley Cup? The only thing this team lacks is a solid goaltender. Other than that, this team has been nothing short of spectacular this year, and I think they have a great chance of winning it.

Also I hate when teams' fans answer the questions with obvious "Go Pens" answers, so please note I am a Rangers fan.

I think their goal tending still needs to prove itself in a playoff situation; lots of people (myself included) talk about Buffalo's Ryan Miller not being the best there's ever been, but he has proven himself more than capable of producing in a playoff situation. Another pitfall I see for the Pens is how young the team is. The pressure and general wear and tear of a playoff series is something these guys aren't used to, and I think it will begin to show late in the first round or early in the second if they make it that far. I can easily see the Pens becoming truly dangerous Cup contenders in the years to come, but this year I think their highest achievement will be turning their season around and garnering enough support to stay in Pittsburgh to develop into top contenders.

I don't see it. Defense, Goaltending and playoff experience win you stanley cups and the Penguins have none of the 3.

Not that they don't have a bright future.

Be patient.

A lot depends on their defense and goaltending which has been suspect now and again throughout the year. We know they can score goals - but all they need to do is run into a hot goaltender, and their Stanley Cup dreams may all but be done.

But if Marc gets hot? They could definitely have what it takes to bring Lord Stanely home.

no....most people will say yes but the truth is...they are a young team except for mark rechi, and gary roberts an they have no playoff expereince. in the playoffs games are a lot rougher and it's not necessarily about who has the most skill, but who is the roughest AND has skill. all they have is Laraque. they also need better more consistant goaltending. when fluery is on his game he is great. but most of the time, he's to inconsistant. Thibault is a great goalie but he is getting old and can not be a consistant starter for the pens

Basically if they make the tourney(playoffs), they have a chance. Since they have the best record in the league since the allstar break I would say they have a chance. It all depends on Marc-Andre. Goaltending wins playoff series.

I think they do. Talent wise they are as tough as anyone in the NHL this year. They can make a comeback and win close games which are both essential to an NHL poised to make a run. They can score in bunches and although their goal keeping is streaky they find a way to win. They also can beat the top teams.

Yes. Its not likely but it is possible... any team in a playoffs have a chance, and the Pens chances seem to be better than most.
