Umm.. You mean kick someone out just because they're pregnant? Nooo.
If someone gets pregnant, they made a mistake. Big deal. By them wanting to continue school means that they're stepping up and trying to care for their baby. If the school can say "Oh, you're pregnant. Peace!" 75% of the girls won't try and get back into school once the baby is born.

Excuse me...what year is this?? Of course it should be allowed. Why should a pregnant teen be denied an education? A lot of the problems that people seem to have is that most pregnant teens don't finish their schooling. And you are asking whether or not they should be allowed to attend?? Where does this question even come from??? Do u think that pregnancy is some kind of disease and it will affect the entire student body? Really, I am just trying to understand why you would inquire about this.......
It is true that in the 60's or 70's pregnant teens weren't allowed at school. Also around that time frame, black people weren't allowed to go to the same schools as white people. But we have come a long way since then...and the school systems have finally put their ridiculous prejudices aside and realized that no matter what, EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO AN EDUCATION!!

Yes, but there really isn't much of a point of the girl showing up because she'll be too busy moaning in pain each morning to the point where she can't even move let alone think. Then she'll have the baby, and she won't have time for school. Teen pregnancy is allowed at my school, but no babies are allowed to be there.

Well for most places in North America, the age of consent is 13-17. If you are technically allowed to have sex, that means that you technically are allowed to get pregnant. If a teen is over the age of consent and gets pregnant then it is legal and allowed everywhere, including schools. And like the first answerer said, you can't kick a girl out of school just for getting pregnant. If they did do that, then they so technically kick the father out too, or it would unfair to the girls. And if all schools did that, where would pregnant girl go for nine months? They would not get an education. Also the schools can't prove a girl is pregnant because they can't force her to give them her personal information from the doctor and they can't force her to do a pregnancy test. For all they know, she just got fat.

Duh! It is not the schools business whether their students are pregnant or not. And a teen parent, who will have to support other people and fend for themselves at a very young age, needs an education even more than a teen with no kids. I don't think the school should be allowed to say anything to the kids who are pregnant. That is the parents job, and I HATE it when schools try to play parent. The schools only have a right to say something if it is affecting there performance in school, and even then, what are you gonna do about it? Children come before school work, obviously.

Thats not really for the school to decide, now is it? The school is there to provide an education. As long as the pregnancy isnt causing other students harm, then it shouldnt be a problem.
A pregnant teen made thier own decision, and is now continuing with her life. THis includes going to school.

well, having pregnant teens in your average class could be misleading. There are enough that there may well be one in every class in big cities, too.
however, they still deserve an education. they shouldn't have special schools for pregnant teens, in my opinion, either. what if the father and family was going to support her and she had to travel away from them all? besides, that would cost some girls a lot of money, that they may not have. and you'd have a hard time finding teachers for every subject taught in normal schools that would want to deal with emotional, moody teenage girls that have a lot of strain and stress on them.
i therefor think that they should have seperate classes in public schools for the care of thier baby, and commonly taken or necessary subjects (foreign languages, for ex.), and then after school tutoring from willing teachers for more specific subjects.
hope i helped.
p.s. i had to come back and add this: what if she was raped is against abortion or found out too late to get one? That REALLY wouldn't be fair. she would have made no mistakes and did nothing wrong or to diserve that.

Yes...if it wasn't allowed in schools think about how many girls would leave school and not have any grades behind them! You cant stop teen pregnancy...can only deal with it when it happens! Giving the girls a chance to a future!

Pregnant or not pregnant...... everyone deserves a fair chance at an education. The school i went to had a nursery, this was back in 1993. I went to school and was able to take my daughter. I thought that it was a good idea at the time, and i still do. I know that if they didn't offer that at the time then more then likely i would have dropped out. I think that more schools need to offer this to our young people these days. Maybe we would have less of a drop-out rate.

Yes...kids/teens are getting pregnant every minute of the day. They deserve an education too though. People make mistakes. They just have to live with em but they still have the right to go to school.

A pregnant teen needs an education as much as any other.
In my district, the teens who get pregnant/father children are required to attend a GRADS class, designed to teach them parenting and general life skills.
I don't think teen pregnancy should be encouraged; there are lots of ways to combat teen pregnancy. But kicking them out of school for becoming pregnant doesn't do anyone any good.
