Well, there are only 23 episodes subtitled so far that have been released. They are released weekly soon after it's aired in Japan, so you have to wait for 1 episode release each week.
As for how many episodes total, there will be 37 episodes in the anime. Currently 23 have been aired.

it is still an on going series. latest episode that i've downloaded is the 23th episode. if you like death note, try watching bleach (highly recommended).
