If you ask me, we're already not far from living in the world portrayed in the movie. Most people are stupid, and the stupidest ones are the ones having the most children. Intelligence isn't valued as it should be, and many people openly ridicule the most intelligent people. I don't know if the whole planet is doomed, but stupidity has very nearly put the last nail in the coffin of democracy in America, and we're well on the way to the extinction of many of the larger mammals, including humans. Maybe the cockroaches will take better of the Earth than we did when they inherit it.

Consider this: Once there were no nations with independent governments contending for all the resources. Once there were only a small fraction of people who occasionally argued about water rights or hunting areas. Now we have something almost unimagionalbe in complexity and dangerous to the extreme. You really have to wonder how is it possible the little people allow the big people the chose as leaders continue to allow this insanity. To me the biggest insanity is the war between all these mythically based religions who still want to continue their centuries old wars. Insantiy! Well, maybe that is too emotinal a term. Maybe it is just plain stupidity.

I wonder what the animals were think around a million years ago when this planet was a large piece of ice.
I wonder who is causing the ice caps on Mars to melt. Last I heard no one had an SUV near the planet.
Just wondering.
I just don't believe MAN is strong enough to hurt this planet. I do believe we can make it less attractive. But when Mother Nature believes she has had enough she will (and has before) rid herself of the problem.

Doomsday prophecies have abounded in our distant past. Let us take a more optimistic view, and do the things that we are capable of doing for our planet, and most importantly trust in God to help us to take care of our Planet Earth.

My father told me he felt sorry for my generation because the world was so bad. That was 47 years ago. Now I feel sorry for my Grand kids. I guess they'll feel sorry for their grand kids too one day, and on, and on, and on. Every generation has it's doubts for the future ones. It's part of being a caring human being.
But everything has an extinction level, including us. When it happens is your guess as well as mine.

This planet will survive long after all of us and our descendants are gone. The planet can survive a nuclear holocaust -- we couldn't but the planet could.
