If Scotland were to become independent, then this would mean the end of the United Kingdom. This would in turn mean that the entity which entered into the various agreements which have brought so many problems to us (Human Rights, membership of European Communities, etc. etc.) would no longer exist. As a result, Britain and Scotland would no longer be under any obligation as far as these treaties were concerned and need not sign up again. Does anyone agree that this could be our best opportunity to divest ourselves of many problems?

Do you really think that 'not renewing' international agreements makes all problems disappear? Scotland would only face the same set of issues from a slightly different point of view... not to mention that 'independence' would raise a whole bunch of new issues... currency, national debt, integration into the EU etc... I personally think that 'independence' of Scotland would cause more damage than benefits (to Britain as well as to Scotland)...

Are you suggesting that Scotland will leave the EU, the heart of many of Britains problems. If so how will Scotland survive? It is not diverse enough to survive on its own, and the SNP know this. Yes they want to leave the UK but they will remain in NATO, EU etc. Which makes me wonder why the Scots want independence. They have everything that they want in Britain, the NHS, a generous welfare system, a strong military, the second best economy in Europe, one of the highest standard of livings in the world. What would independence achieve??

Its just what England needs. I dont care about Scotland, Wales, N Ireland. All they do is just suck English tax payers money and we'd certainly be better off without them. It would also mean no more Scottish MP's sitting in Westminster and dictating what I do in MY country and not in their own. Im praying that come the May elections the Scots vote SNP.

nicely thought out, and yes you would have 100% dominion of your own nation, but dontcelebrate to soon,if you dont leave europe you wont be independant just leaving england only means you will be the state of scotland in the united states of europe. you have to leave both, those documents signed with europe are illegal because they were signed by british traitors
who betrayed all of us to europe without a honest vote.if you do leave both maybe you could offer the english to join the scotts nationalist and rescue england and even wales.best of luck.

They can then take their Scottish born politicians back too, i.e.

Tony Blair
Gordon Brown
Menzies Campbell
John Reid
etc

David cameron sounds a bit suspicious too, doesn't it?
