You have only worked 2/3 wks, so a 2 wk notice for this position is mute.

Just be professonal, polite, honest and to the point that you have accepted a position with another company that best utilizes your skills. No need to tell them of your feelings toward working for them.

Then offer to work till the end of the week and see how they respond. If their attitude is great, agree to being there for the duration. If their attitude is negative, apologize for the inconvenience, and offer to make the end of today's shift your last day.

Make sure that if they have provided items for you to use under their employment, (clothes, keys, pagers) that you provide a list for them stating that you have returned everything belonging to Sonic and have them sign and date.

NEVER burn your bridges. Perhaps 10 yrs from now, you can have the opportunity to land that perfect job and you find out that they own Sonic or Sonic is one of their clients. You want to walk away with clean hands, so to speak. And on your work resume for future employers, scanty or negative reasons for leaving can ruin your getting that good job in the future.

First off-- this isn't in the right category, because it's not pet related =) so next time can you please go to the jobs category!? Thanks =)

As for the job-- give them 2 weeks notice of course and tell them you will be leaving the job-- that you are having a hard time providing and you need to try and find a better paying job OR you could tell them that it's not the job for you OR you could make up an excuse like-- it's too far to drive everyday and its guzzling up a lot of gas money just to make it out there.

However, i suggest you stick it out for at least another few weeks, quitting a job after 2 weeks will NOT look good on another places job application--- however quitting after a month won't look so bad and you have better chances of getting another job.

GOOD LUCK! Sorry! =)

Just let him know you have a job that you can advance in and you will need to give him notice. Thank him for the opportunity and consideration he has given you. I realize this is mostly fluff, but making someone feel good about themselves is always a good thing even if they try and be crabby. My advise: don't forget your experience when you are being served at a fast food place - they are working for their money and sometimes things are out of their control. I worked fast food as a teenager also.

Write a short letter stating that you are giving your two weeks notice as of the date you give them the letter. If they ask you why you are quitting, tell them you don't think you're cut out for the food service industry. Then work for the duration of the two weeks, or through the last shift that they schedule you for (sometimes they don't keep you for the full two weeks). Being professional about it is the nicest thing you can do.

Thank you for the opportunity however, I have been offered a position out side of the food industry. I am giving you _____
notice is my last day.

I really don't think you need to worry as this type of business people do not stay long. Good luck on your new job.

How did this get into the "pets" catagory?

I don't have any thoughts on how to quit, but I dissagree with your word of advice. Both my sisters worked at subway (I don't know what you would call that, but it is food that you get fast, so thus must be fast food), and my sisters enjoyed it.

Go tell them: This job is just not for me. I appreciate so much your giving me a chance to work here and I've enjoyed working for you. I have another job that starts on _______, so my last day will be ___________.

It's ok. It's a high-turnover kind of job and they're used to it. They'll appreciate your honesty. Although giving them two weeks notice would of been nicer, they'll make do with whatever notice you give them (they'll have to). Whatever you do, do not just not show up for work. That is just not nice.

Just tell them, I Quit, theres no explanation in a fast food joint. They'll hire somebody else to take your place.Makes you wish you were a kid again, now that your working and TRYING to find that perfect place to fit in.

Be polite you mat need them for areferance later. just because you had a bad experiance doesnt mean others will. Iknow of some one who started as as a dish washer and is now a big shot. 2 weeks isnt long enough to pass judgement
