i was told I need to walk a mile in a black man's shoes to know what discrimination is.....well, since my tax dollars probably paid for those shoes let me try them on. I know someone that works for the Federal government that didnt get a promotion because a black woman applied for the same job she did, she wasnt qualified but because of the "extra" points she gets for being a poor black woman she would have gotten the job instead of someone who actually had the education to perform the job, the agency then closed the job opening for fear of being accused of racial discrimination. Come on blacks, please offer some reasonable justification for giving someone a job based solely on their color not education.

I completely agree with you. I am a girl - graduated last year at the top of my class in civil engineering from the biggest undergraduate class in the country. I actually had fellow classmate girls say things like, "That is so awesome for a woman to be #1" and all this BS. I didn't become #1 in my class because I'm a woman, nor did I do it just because I wanted to "put men in their place" like feminists would like to think. I hate feminists as much as the racists who claim unfair treatment - trust me, there's no trouble getting a good job if you just put in the effort. I have never been treated unfairly for being a woman.

African Americans have and currently are discriminated on various avenues; as women, gays, and other minorities. Anyone who would think that prejudices have been eliminated in America, seriously needs to re-examine their thoughts.
Discrimination can occur on various levels: work environment, social, dating, catching a cab, and even here on Yahoo Answers.
Orpah Winfrey was discriminated in an upscale department store in Chicago. Frankly, I don't think there was anything within the store she could not afford to buy multiple times over.
Barrack Obama faces discrimination with his Presidential bid to the White House. There are those who write some vary uncanning statements, here on Yahoo Answers regarding his bid to become the first African America President of the United States; solely based upon his ethnicity; not his ideology.
In as much; any person who is discriminated against faces the challenge of overcoming hatred, alienation, and substandard treatment. Yes, there will aways be those who will argue that no such discrimination exist. These are individuals who more than likely haven't walked a mile in some else's shoes; rather they think their tax dollar has paid for them or not. It's as silly as a man, expounding that giving birth isn't painful for women.

Okay, it is not just about jobs and being awarded contracts. Watch how well dressed Blacks get treated in a store, they are either ignored or passed over by the attendant to the person who is behind them usually white.
DWB- driving while black still happens on the street. A black man dressed in a suit and following the traffic laws still faces a 3 in 1 chance of being pulled over just for driving in a Benz, BMW or a Lexus. To hell with the fact that he was well educated.
These are things that still take place in today's world.
For every one citation you can make about a "white" person who got passed over for a job because they believe the black person got it based on skin color, I can provide 6 instances where blacks get passed over for the white person who either has the same education or less.
I have also included a link for you from a Fordham University study about discrimination with regards to black accountants. She included her number and email address you can call her.
I can also include for you and the rest of your like minded respondents where it has been clearly shown that for whites they need to send out 10 resumes to get 1 call back, wherein a black person has to send 15 to get the same treatment.

Consider this as well. Society has allowed "minorities" to fashion their own organizations as well. United ***** College Fund. The NAACP which is the single most racist organization in the world yet it is a legal entity. Blacks seem to segregate themselves for almost every cultural activity society has to offer. Black universities, black contests via "Miss Black American" There is a month dedicated to "Black History Month". People like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan are allowed to spit the racist venom publicly anytime and anywhere they wish. And yet the rest of society is labeled "racist" if they complain about it.
Yes, there is discrimination but it's not the blacks who suffer from it. If any other group of society ever tried to organize groups similar to those organized by blacks, the Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons of the world would scream bloody murder.
The sad part is that Sharpton and all those like him make one hell of a living preaching racial hatred to their followers.
My own son was a victim affirmative action. He was clearly the best man for the job but was the wrong color.

You gave one example.
I have never benefited from any of the extra points and extra whatever someone above me mentioned. I have never even heard of this. Thanks for letting me know. Maybe I'll now go apply for a federal government job.
Majority of us black folks are law abiding and work hard for everything WE own. I know I do.

No one should be given preferential treatment because of race or sex. Those days should have been over a while ago. I don't want to have a doctor operate on me who got into medical school because of affirmitave action, and that is just one example. It's time for this to stop, and let people achieve by their own merit.

You need to get your facts straight before you show the world how ignorant you really are. Your tax dollars bought nothing for me. But my ancestors sweat, blood and tears built this nation that pampers you, with no compensation. The only compensation they received was no beating from their cruel white slave owners. And no one has ever received a job for their skin color except for white men. Who got the job because they look like the guy that did the hiring. I have come across dozens and dozens of white men that don't know how to be a good or even mediocre manager. They are only managers because they are white. No black person gets extra points for being black if any thing we have to work much harder to prove our abilities. White men give 50% and get promoted and black, Latino, women and gays give 200% to get the same promotion with less pay.
A few black people get a position you weren't qualified for to begin-with and you cry. If you were able to walk in a black mans shoes you would see we don't cry over such things. We are strong enough to pick up and move on.

They aren't discriminated against. In fact, black people have an advantage. Don't they get a discount when they apply for college? Don't they get money from the government if their ancestors were slaves? I hate it when they claim we are being racist when sometimes, they are the racist ones.
