I'd like to know because it happened to my yahoo account. And NO ONE knows my password.

They read some mail and changed my password. What a pain it was to get my password re-set!

Well a lot of people will say something like this:
"I hacked into your Runescape account notice the lose of money?" or " I hacked your email you had an email from work didn't you?"
Now after tons of research it is only possible to hack into computers. People saying they hacked into your email or runescape account (if you have one) are clearly lying or mean "password sloving" remember that now. Now things like key loggers and after things that record what you do on your computer will record your password or other details and send them back. Or they used some clever scam which makes you give them your password.
Now hacking into computer is different but I won't get into that it's too hard to understand, but remember run anti virus software, be careful on the internet and never give your password to anyone unless you absoulty have to. ALSO remember some people pose as the company staff of the website or other thing your using in order to obtain so be careful there hope this helped you understand :) :D

They use a software that find your password & log into your mail adress just like you & they see i you have some useful info there or not they will just delete all your massages.
Ofcors this is the beginers way the experts use way more complicated ways & tools that you can't understand to hack into servers & other places but one thing is sure they'll have to be realy smart to do such things or better word a genious.

It depends on what kind of email it is... if it's yahoo or another web based email, then they are going to need your password. If it's POP3 mail then all they need is access to your computer.

A person could do both by getting into your personal computer through a trojan horse or some kind of back door administration program. Sometimes people disguise these as games or pics. They say click this and open it. Most times you see nothing happens when actually the program just installed itself and now they can monitor what you are doing from another computer.

There are several ways. Someone could guess your password, or see you type it and remember. Someone could try and make you give the password ('Hi this the help desk, we need to run a check, you are xxxx? Good, may I have your password'. This works way to often in corporate environments). More technical solutions are monitoring your keyboard, logging all network traffic to and from the pc you're working on, or using special software to read the files your password might be kept in.

If you're using a public computer such as in a library, your passoword can be stored in the browser and the next person who uses the computer will be able to access your mail. Also, if you are using a computer on a network at work, the system admin can monitor your activities and subsequently get your password.

to hack, if they don't know you it's really just hit and miss with the passwords. the downsid for either you or the hacker is that the account locks after many unsucsessful attempts.

if they know you a bit, they can use what they know about you and guess the security question.

once they have your password, they know it. i don't know of any pc's or software that can phish email addresses like with myspace.

there are other ways to hi-jack an email password. just depends on the hacker.
