I'm 17 yrs old and i love the chicken soup books..especially for the friendship and love.. I was just curious if the stories in it really are true? They always bring a tear 2 my eye .

I know for a fact that one of the stories is true, because it is mine. In Chicken Soup for the Cat and Dog Lover's Soul.

Most of them are. I too love Chicken Soup and the Cup of Comfort Series which is a different company.

I can't speak for all the authors, but the two printed in the Horse Lover's one under the name Lynn Allen were true. Those were my horses and my stories.

They're nice when you just feel overwhelmed by the chaos of the world.I also like that they use quotes from historic people who disagree from each other that generally agree on certain things.I don't think anyone should depend on them to make their life better,but it's helpful to read inspirational words when things aren't right.

I must admit, I can't read those books in public because the stories always make me cry, whether they are sad or happy tales. I believe the stories are all nonfiction.

I have never read them, however, my teenaged daughter loves them. I think everyone could use that kind of pick me up from time to time. I think I read somewhere that they are true and you can submit stories for consideration in future publications.
