Here are the possibilities:
1. they r fake
2. they r dirty (u can use regular rubbing alocohol or buy the special kind from claires, icing, or anyother jewery store)
3. u let them get wet (put them in a jewelery box, a little platic baggie, etc when u r taking a shower, swimming, having a water balloon fight, etc.)
4. they rnt placed in a safe place (like a jewelery box, plstic baggie, etc.)
5. they r fake (they r probobly from claires, icing, sears, wet seal, forever 21, etc.)
if u buy anytype of earrings, necklaces, rings, etc. ax them how manny karats, when and were made, how much alloy is in it, etc.

The gold plating (if it is real gold at all) is wearing off so the copper is reacting with your skin. Did it say that it was real gold where you bought it? If so, they lied and you may want to get your money back. If you knew it wasn't real gold, you should've covered it in a thin layer of clear nail polish. You can re-do this clear coat whenever the green comes back. This will help keep the earrings that gold color and keep the copper from staining your ears.

I'm guessing because it is an inexpensive earring with a very thin plating of gold on copper. It doesn't take long to wear off gold plating. How much did the earrings cost and did the merchant claim this is solid gold or plated gold? Did they even claim this is gold at all?

i would check with the person who sells them to you. he/she might be ripping you off. they are most likely fake. real gold won't rust like that.
