i'm in two minds over the whole subject - i don't really mind them as long as there aren't too many, after all it is the uk,
but on the other hand, it's kind of annoying when they can't really speak english. at the end of the day, what's the point of emmigrating when you can't speak the language of that country? bit pointless really. it's the uk, you should speak english as much as possible. it just gets on my nerves when i see people speak a different language if they're gonna live here for a long time. if they're on holiday, i understand, it's just when i hear them i feel like telling them to speak english.

so what do you think?

I dont mind if they want to contribute to the community, i,e spend money in local shops, use local services etc, and want to work for a living and pay taxes and live by our laws and speak our language.
the second they go against any of the above they should be drop kicked from the white cliffs of dover!
That goes for all immigrants, not one nationality or religion in particular.

The Brits work all over the world in countries where they don't speak the language.
Spain and France are full of Brits who have their own communities because they can't or make no effort to learn the language.
The Poles are trying to learn.
Poland's doors are open to any Brits who would like to live there.
Most foreigners in the UK have a reasonable grasp of more than one language. Most Brits have a poor grasp of one.
I am English and moved to Poland two and a half years ago.
I also took the trouble to learn the language.
Most Brits think the world revolves around them and that everyone else should learn to speak English.

The Poles are a proud nations who have been through a lot, so I wish good luck to them all.

The language is a shame - it's down to lack of opportunity. Maybe the employers should put some of their cost savings aside and sponsor English courses, staff development and all that.

The fact that they wind up the right-wingers is just a bonus... I wish they'd take up their keyboard-hero threats seriously and leave to Spain, where they will have all learned Spanish like a native.

I think its fine as long as they are willing to work but it would be preferable to me if the government filled the jobs by forcing the lazy British people back to work.
As for not speaking the language, ideally they should be able to but how many british immigrants to countries like Spain can actually speak Spanish? Not very many I would imagine but thats seen as Ok as most of the Spanish can speak English?

as far as i'm concerned i believe that it's pointless to travel to the uk and don't know the language spoke, but there are many people who go there both to work and practice speaking and it's perfectly ok :-)

Why are polish people going to UK when the UK never colonized them or was ever in control of Poland. UK should have immigrants from countries they've ruled or colonized. That actually know how to speak English

Didn't you guys just pass a law making English mandatory for immigrants? I wish we'd do that here in the States.

I'm hoping the uk gets flooded with immigrants. i remember when the uk controlled my country and flooded us with anglo immigrants, they could not speak our language, we said your here speak our language but no they did not. took a guerrilla war and alot of dead brits before they pulled out of here. the uk deserves to get flooded with immigrants for what it did to my country. uk workers here live in thier own community because they are too lazy to learn our language, so you see we have the same issue, why don't brit workers when they come here learn our language , if they're gonna live here for a long time, if they're on a holiday , i understand, its just when i hear them i feel like telling them to speak our language.
