Everytime i kneel down (i fit children shoes) i get a sharp pain in my right knee as if i am kneeling on something hard. However, it isnt swollen but looking back i did knock it hard a dfew weeks ago when the pain started.

you may have chipped your patella (knee cap) and the bit of bone that has come away is floating around your knee, when you kneel down it press's on your knee, an gives you pain... get it checked out at the doc's then hospital

As you kneel a lot it could be 'housemaids knee'. Take some Ibuprofen for the inflammation and see a doc if it gets any worse.

your knee cap could have minute frctures.........

its probably inflamed is it hot?
