We do it all the time by ignoring fire alarms. The reason why is that our building was being refurbished and contractors were working on one of the lower floors. These guys would accidentally set off the fire alarms all the time - we had about one evacuation per week - so it got to a point where nobody took an evacuation seriously.
However, today one of the guys who sits in the back room came into the main part of the office and said "I smell smoke ... do you guys smell that?" We couldn't, but then the entire building started to shake and sway, and then there was a humungous crash. We are on the top floor of a very tall block, so it was pretty scary. Then the fire alarm went off, and you better believe that everyone was down those stairs as fast as we possibly could get down there. Anyway, turns out that one of the cooling fans had dropped off the building, but you better believe that we will not be ignoring the fire alarm ever again!

years ago - in a warehouse, i would have been around 21 / 22.
we had big forklift things called manups that let a man go up pretty high in the air to reach stuff on v high shelves, one of the other guys was driving it and had lowered himself down to ground level, i was standing outside the manup and held onto the cab - he said let go of it - i was havin a laugh and said no, if hes goin up im hangin on. he went up about 8 ft and i lost grip, only a small fall - no bruising or trouble, but could have been so much worse and so very very embarassing.
also i used to speed around on electric pallet trucks and managed to get my foot caught cause the co. hadnt serviced the breaks - little painful but no injury, fault was 50/50 on that one. how ive made it this far - i just dont know.

guess from time to time we all do . but it is there to protect should an accident happen. It is very important to abide by h/s as in the event of a misshap everything will be checked and logs must be kept . People today are always looking to sue companys so its in your best intrest to train and get staff to sign off all training records that way they cant say they didnt know the proper procedures
