I try, as much as possible, to recognize fear for what it is. When I do...I put a braking mechanism on it to prevent it from running amok, then let it run its course. When it's done, I take it apart, identify its triggers (in this given instance), determine whether it was merited, and am better prepared to either prevent similar outbreaks, deal with it in future, or harness it as a driving force for a more-desired outcome.
Makes a tasty sandwich, too.
