yes, it is in fact by the superior labial branch of the facial artery. in fact you can feel your pulses in a lot of other places. the femoral pulse can be felt in you groin region, i.e. just under ur inguinal ligament about 6 cm medial to ur bony prominence on the hips, or the facial artery pulse along the masseter muscle,i.e.along your lower of the jaw against the border of ur clenched cheek muscle(technically not the 'cheek' muscle but the mastication muscle, hope i haven't insulted ur intelligence). or the popliteal pulse in the back of your knee when you fold your knee, or the dorsalis pedis artery pulse in between the two ankle prominences(malleoli) in the front, or on your temple( superficial temporal branch of the facial artery, especially when you have a splitting headache) or your carotid pulse in your neck on the side( people try to commit suicide by cutting it but end up doing considerable damage to their trachea instead as they raise their heads.)

Technically you have pulses all over your body. The ones that everyone are familiar with (neck, throat, wrist) are generally used because due to either the size of the artery and/or the closeness of the artery to the surface of the skin. These two factors make it easier to detect the pulse.
