I feed her infant cereal still in the morning with fruit. Is that weird? She is on a special diet so she can go to the bathroom easier. I am running out of ideas of things to feed her. Any meal and snack ideas??

Here are some of my 16 month old's favorites: steamed broccoli, canned green beans, thinly sliced apple, chopped prunes, pineapple, mandarin oranges, shredded chicken, hamburgers on whole wheat bun or no bun, cheese, yogurt, banana, fried tofu (weird, I know), cereal, wasa crackers, graham crackers, Nilla wafers, oatmeal cookies, spaghetti with meat sauce, sandwiches, toast with butter, cinnamon and sugar, Kashi TLC Cookies and french fries. These are all things that she has been eating for a few months now and loves. It sounds like she's having trouble with constipation? Nothing works for my kids except lots of fruit and liquid. I try to serve it with every meal. At this age, I wouldn't make special meals for a baby. Whatever you prepare for the family should be fine (but I'm not sure about her dietary restrictions). Good luck.

infant cereal is fine! it has plenty of vitamins and minerals so as long as she likes it there isnt a problem just not too much b/c it can be constipating. Oatmeal is good and the old fashioned oatmeal has more fiber (to help with constipation) You will want to limit bread and cereal snacks. Especially fruit loops, red food dye is constipating, so are bananas, cheese, goldfish, & crackers so give these in moderatin. You can give her spinach if she will eat it. (baby food or you can use frozen or canned if you blend it) if she doesnt seem to like it, you can just give her 1-2 bites every day or so and they usually get used to the taste and texture after a while. It is very healthy and is great for constipation. Some more ideas are: cooked apples, cooked carrots (diced), I like to make smoothies from yogurt and fruits and sneak some veggies in there. they dont notice and they think its like ice cream, cut up cold cuts, peas, corn, cooked soft diced chicken. My children still ate some baby foods at this age in with the other things, it was just easier for me to give them a more variety.
good luck

At 14 months, she can eat a lot of things. Try cottage cheese, YoBaby whole milk yogurt, avacado, any fruits (cut up into small pieces). My kids also liked rice, meatballs, ravioli, etc. At 14 months, she can start eating most of the things that you do as long as the pieces are small enough. It's a great age, because kids love the different textures and they are willing to try anything. Picky eating doesn't start until age two!

my daughter seems to enjoy oatmeal with fruit and also she is just "ga ga" for regular cereals like bran flakes when they get a bit soggy. Our favorite snack is crumbled grahm crackers with either fresh fruit soften by cooking or canned fruit. Veggies cooked or steamed to a chewing friendly texture also seem to go over well with my daughter. I just get some baby carrots and either steam or boil them until they are easily mushed when biting. The firm would depend on how deligently the child chews. Keep in mind that fresh fruits and veggies natures way to keep ya regular! Good luck and cherish your cherub!!

No it is not weird. My eldest had (and has) a 'thing' about food textures and I think he was 18 mo before he was off jar baby food, my other two could not get table food soon enough.

What are her diet restrictions? Is she having problems with constipation or something else? This will help with a response - or email me gaylerbrody@yahoo.com - been through a few different tummy issues.

When my daughter was that age one of her favorites foods was a mixture of dates, pumpkin & tofu. Get dried dates & simmer them in an equal amount of water (i.e. 1/4 c dates, 1/4 c water) until they can make a soft paste. Mix with some canned pumpkin & mash with tofu. Lots of fiber from the dates & pumpkin, sweet from the dates & protein from the tofu. You can also use the date/pumpkin mixture as a spread on rice cakes, toast or whatever.

My daughter eats anything that I eat, apart from when I eat junk I wait until after she has gone to bed!

She eats cheese, yoghurts, cottage cheese on crackers, pasta, all fruits, tomatoes, baked potatoes, spaghetti bolognese, stir fry noodles and veg, shephards pie, mild curry and rice, couscous, beans, all kinds of sandwiches for example tuna, cheese, ham, houmous, marmite, peanut butter. Flapjacks, fruit bars, raisins, cornflakes, weetabix, porridge, eggs, juice lollies, mash potato and sweet potato, milkshakes, smoothies, breadsticks, rice cakes.
Theres a few ideas!

Cereals like Cheerios, Life.

At that age, they can also have carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, all boiled and real soft of course. They can also have bread with some peanut butter. Ask your pediatrician.
