If they stay long enough, yes. My mum came to the US as a teenager. She retained somewhat of an English (London) accent, but never sounded completely American either. My aunt, who was a little girl when they got here developed the most awful nasal accent that sounded like neither. LOL So yeah, I would say a mix.

Generally they will adopt the accent of the people they are with the most - usually school friends. By the age of 14 your accent is pretty much set but can lessen (e.g. Madonna). A reverse example is the Osbournes - both parents are English and the childrne have American accents but there is some Britishness to the way they speak.

It all depends on how much influence their parents have and how much influence the British contact is. Even those people who have grown up somewhere but then moved will develop a new accent. My mom's friend was from Newfoundland as a kid but spoke with a Southern Ontario after living here for years. When she'd go home for a week she'd come back with a Newfoundland accent for a little while.

on condition that you pass once you're a baby. once you're over age 14 or 15 your accent received't change. My pal Ian became born interior the US or perhaps has an English dad and he moved to England at age 15 and nonetheless sounds American after 25 years My pal's mom moved to the united kingdom at age 18 to pass to college, married an English guy and is now in her 50s and nonetheless sounds American

Accents aren't hereditary, they are a product of their environment. If you hear it over and over you'll eventually pick up on it. My wife's uncle was born and raised in the US, then married a woman from Australia and moved there. He now speaks with an accent. I am from the south and have a southern accent, my wife isn't, she now speaks several words with a southern accent.

I guess they get used to it after a while. Like after Madonna moved there, she gained some type of accent.
