If you have them, what do you do when you get them?

I'm used to having things with hot/cold flashes and lightheadedness, but today it was like I was going to vomit and my stomach felt, and still feels, insanely nauseated with heartburn and blahblahblah. God. It fxcking sucks. If this happened to you, what did you do? I'm thinking pepto bismol, haha.

I used to have them bad, the way you describe. The best thing to do is to try to relax as much as possible (yes I know it sounds easy but it's not, but I have been there), and just *ride* through it. Stay sitting, don't give in and run or go anywhere else. They will pass in a few minutes. I especially hate that nausea!

Don't be afraid of them. I found that when I was in the middle of them, I would just think to myself "Yeah, whatever. Here it is, let's get it over with." Don't fight it, the more you take a *whatever* attitude the easier it will be.

It's possible for them to taper off. I don't get them full-blown anymore really, but it could always happen again.

If your older or have taken a birth control shot the hormones maybe reacting to your system. I have had chronic problems with the hormones they have put on birth control pills and I have found it throws my body into a depression / panic disorder mode. After I had my first child all those symptoms of depression and panic had gone away. Heart burn could be dietary and just sticking around unpleasant people can cause stomach problems. Do not go to a phsyciologist. Go see your gynecologist and ask them it is possible you could be suffering from a hormone imbalance, because psychologists do not have a clue what hormones can do to a persons system. This can be especially true if you have ever had an abortion. It can throw your body into a hormone shock.

It's a fight of flight response, it's perfectly natural I think. Whenever it happens it means there's something wrong. Either you will have to come to your senses, take a bit of time and realize that there is nothing wrong by thinking it through, then the panic will end, or you have to leave the area that is causing the panic.

The first usually works, but if you get a panic attack in a bad part of town the second usually works better in that situation heh.

So yeah, I think they're natural, so you either work through them, or change the circumstances, it's the only way to work it.

i had really bad panic attacks when i was under a lot of stress. i couldn't breath and thought i was gonna die. i had to go see a therapist about it but she wasn't helpfull so i stopped seeing her. i actually learned to do yoga and tried to fix the things that were stressing me out and the panic attacks just went away on their own.
