Life is what you make it. I know I look back on my uni days with really fond memories, but there were some really sh*ty times, but you don't think of those things after the event, you just remember the good times. at the time i know i didnt think all my time at uni was great. but once you have gone you miss it. it's the same for everyday life. when you look back on things in years to come you will say you enjoyed things. also, stuff like uni and travelling is a time when you can be out there having experiences that are different to 'everyday' life, they happen at a certain time in your life, and normally people dont have many 'committments' then, so they look back and say they loved every minute of it, when in reality they didnt, they are just remembering a time when things were less 'complicated'.
dont know if that answered it! great question by the way, got the grey matter in gear!

I suppose it is all about how you choose to live, and the choices you make, I am not unhappy just scared to make some important choices that might hurt others, I hold down a job, pay my mortgage, do normal things but want more things than I have, I could gamble and take a chance and things could be worse or better????????/

This kinda reminds me of the Buddhist's ideology of "live in the moment". The whole idea is to concentrate on what you're doing in the moment. Don't worry about the past or future, just live NOW! Whether you're doing dishes or reading, or going out for a walk, whatever! That's how you enjoy the moment, by embracing yourself in it. Of course, that's easier said than done. I would imagine it would take years to perfect that type of thought. I haven't been able to do it yet.

I guess it depends on the individual outlook on life - if a person has a positive outlook then they will focus on the positive aspects of their life, and are therefore more likely to 'enjoy every minute'. However, if a person tends to focus on negative aspects then they will not experience as much enjoyment.
I personally tend towards focusing on the negative, and as a result I do not enjoy myself enough. However, there are a few highlights in my life, and I know that it would not take a lot of effort on my part to improve my situation.

There is no such thing as enjoying 'every minute'. You only ever remember or enjoy the significant things that stand out i.e. passing exams, proposals of marriage etc. The rest is hum drum.

there are moments in everyones day to day living...that are quite enjoyable...babies first words, a new car...something happens sometimes..thats enjoyable.
sadly, my husbands mum died..and left him some money. we were able to fully pay off the mortgage...and since then..we can relax and enjoy ourselves more than ever before. we can afford holidays..without worrying and eating out etc.,...without wondering where to 'rob' the money from.
so in short - once the mortgage has gone...life is so much more rewarding...you relax & enjoy...does all that make sense?

Of course. First you need to enjoy your work and have a healthy balance in your life. I work two jobs to take care of my family (including my sister displaced after Katrina and my mother-in- law in Mexico)
My husband works two jobs and fixes up our home... In the middle of this we still find the time to be happy with each other, our marriage, and our life. It is taking what you have and enjoying it. I enjoy the rare nights I have with my man. We enjoy being able to help those close to us.
Positive thinking is what it takes.

No I have never attained that state of mind. I am trying to take a different attitude towards life and put it off till tomorrow if I cannot do it today. And let the devil take the high road as well.
Good luck..... enjoy life only here once

Yes but it's a challenge, it's a question of a good happy attitude towards mundane chores. Focus on enjoying NOW rather than wasting time on past or future events.
