basically anything else its all theory and every ten years it changes they really dont know and dont try to tell me they do I studied it and quit cause of that and have spoken to many pschyatrists who agree and are just there for $$$. I think psychologists are good and there's no reason to take medications or go to a psychiatrist

Most people do not know the mechanism of action of any medication they take, whether it be for heart problems, diabetes, or psychiatric problems.
If someone is taking a cholesterol-lowering drug, do you think they know that it inhibits 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl- coenzyme A reductase? No, they know that it lowers their cholesterol.
When someone is taking an antidepressant, do you think they know that it selectively inhibits serotonin reuptake? Okay, some do, but what they really know is that they feel less depressed.

The problem is that psychiatric disorders do not have a blood test or any other medical test to measure it and you have to go by the patient's self-report. It is difficult to quantify. Therefore, it is harder for people to understand that they do work. Remember that medication is the only solution for more serious disorders, like schizophrenia. Without them, some people would be restrained and hospitalized for the rest of their lives.

All of medicine started with a theory and all of medicine changes every year as we learn more. There is still a lot that we don't know about the human body.

I am sorry if you had a couple of bad psychiatrists, but please don't discredit the entire field because of them. There are some good ones out there.
