This may be my last season watching the NBA. I can't take it. Its just not a man's sport anymore. Ticky tack fouls all over the place. Technical fouls flying everywhere. No one can play defense. Why do players even shoot anymore? All you have to do is drive and if a player breathes on you, the refs send you to the line. I watch a NBA game, and instead of seeing a real game, I'm watching a free throw shooting competition. Sure more games are going past 100 points, but are players shooting better or just getting to the line more often? Am I the only one who feel frusterated by this?

i dont see any glaring difference from the past...many fouls are bogus for sure but i see many obvious fouls not called too...its not too different to the way its always been...i think instant replay challenges should be allowed just like in football and tennis...but its still a great game to watch

Personally I enjoy today's game better, however I reserve the right to change my mind.

Today's game has more pure shooting than I have seen in a long time. It's no longer isolations of one on one, spin drive and dunk. Players today have to actually be able to shoot the ball...guys like Dirk for example.

In the old days, Dirk wouldn't of had a chance as players would take cheap shots at him and he would most likely be out of the league.

I like the finesse game better as it is truer to what Basketball was based on.

I actually wouldn't mind if they where to move the basket from 10 feet up to 12 feet to reduce the amount of dunks in the game today.

On the flip side, I am starting to think the league is somehwat rigged, similar to the WWF. Take a look at last years finals...I'm still waiting ot see Wade be touched by a single Maverick player, yet he's at the FT line again...the finals where a joke.

Sure the Mavs blew an opportunity, however I believe the Heat received some serious help and ultimately stole the title.

If the trend contiues, then yes, I too will stop watching the NBA...I quit watching wrestling when I was a kid, why would I want to watch another fake sport?

These rules are going to be challenged by the player's unions and will no doubt get amended when all is said and done. However, you have to look at what necessitated some of those rules. Brawls from too much perceived contact on one player from another. This put a tremendous black eye on the NBA and they have every right to hold their players to a higher standard.

Ticky tack fouls suck, that's for sure, but players need to learn better control of their use of force. It's not football and no awards should be given for pushing and shoving around. Without amending the rules, games may get more rough to the point where fights break out all the time--something the NBA does NOT want.

If the players don't like it, they can form their own league.

Joe Rockhead's right... you can count on one hand the number of guys in the league who can hit a 12 foot shot from the baseline... everything is either a 3 point attempt or a dunk... of course, players play that way because THAT'S what gets shown on Sportcenter every night.

In more ways than one, ESPN has ruined the way the pros play the game. As a result, we send all of these "great, athletic" players to the Olympics, and they embarrass the USA by coming home with a bronze medal... our guys get beat buy European and South American teams that still play the game the same way we taught them in the 1960s....

Of course, the influx of high school players who don't know how to play basketball didn't help matters any (obviously, some H.S. players like Lebron were ready for the NBA but most of them aren't).

Join the club. But sometimes its way stupider. Like this: Guy gets clobbered by all five of the other team, gets pushed, and no foul. On the other side, guy barely touches opponent. Personal foul. Sheesh, I'm pretty sure someone's game fixing!
I hate free throws! Destoy the pace of the game.

The NBA stopped being a real game a long time ago. Nobody can shoot a mid-range jump shot, defenses are constrained to artificial limits on who can be where and for how long and offenses take advantage of this to turn it into a game of "dump it into the big guy and let him crash into somebody".

I'm not frustrated, I just don't watch anymore and haven't since the Bird/Magic days.

If I was put in charge of the NBA, and I am short enough to be the commisioner, but I'm not a lawyer, I would change the rules in that if you do not knock a player on his butt, or he is not bleeding, there is NO FOUL. Travelling, on the other hand, WOULD be called more often.

If Kobe and Wade aren't given those points from the FT line, they'd both average 16ppg. The players nowadays (except for Lebron), are simply less talented.

4 letters, AMEN, the NBA is becoming more and more currupt every year. More players are not even trying to defend less they get a foul for bumping into somebody.
