You need to get a lamp ring. There are two kinds, the ceramic kind that you put a few drops of scented oil on and the kind that's already scented that you just put on the bulb. The incense guy at the mall should have it.

I have used a ceramic lamp ring, but they are impossible to clean out if you want to change scents. They are inexpensive so you can buy one for each scent that you use.

The oils from Young Living are indeed very good, but they cannot be found at stores. The oils are very expensive and they do make wonderful claims that cannot be proved. I've been to the farm in Mona, Utah and was able to take a tour that was given by Mr. Young himself. It's an interesting place, if you ever have a chance to see it, I would recommend it.

There is a little metal tray that you can buy to put on your light bulb. You can put scented oil into the tray and the heat from the bulb causes it to disperse the scent. DO NOT put scented oils directly on the bulb itself.

It's scented oil you rub on the tip of the lightbulb, when the bulb heats up the aroma of the oil intensifies, spreading the smell throughout the room. You can purchase these at Target, Walmart, and I believe I have seen them at Pier One as well :)

It's probably not a good idea to put stuff on your lightbulbs.

I usually stick to burning incense, or oils.

Vanilla extract actually does a pretty good job all by itself - just get a small old pot, and put it on the stove - put a teaspoon or so in once it is warmed up, and get ready for good smells. For some reason it doesn't actually seem to burn, though I'm sure if you left it on for too long it probably would.

Try essential oils from Young Living. They smell great and are healing oils. They don't contain solvents like many cheaper aromatic oils. Find them at youngliving.com.
