You can have what you want, who told you that you couldn't? You have the right to have anything and everything you want in life, and here comes the caveat, AS LONG AS you don't hurt others in getting what you want. Also, happiness comes from inside, there is no external thing that will give you happiness if your happiness is not from within. All you have to do is decide that you are happy.
:-) Smile! :-)

Happiness is not out there somewhere waiting to be found; it is not an illusive dream.
You ought to be happy regardless of life's ups and downs. They will come in different ways and via different situations. Just accept that you are not totally in control and you must 'roll with the punches' as is said.
Be true to yourself at all times and make every effort to deal fairly with others. Beyond it all, you are responsible for how you feel when faced with issues.
Be happy, anyway!

We can have it if we just look around and appreciate what we already have. I don't think that the idea of pursuing happiness means that we can't be happy before we get what we want...I think it means we should always be working for something better.
However, as humans, we're always going toi want more, so I think that sometimes we need to slow down and realize that we already have plenty.

Because that's not what you want. Life is a journey, you wouldn't be happy if you simpy had everything you wanted instantaneously. You'd eventually become bored with all of the stuff. And if you were capable of not becoming bored it be due to the ideas and characteristics of your personality in which that would be possible, and that's a matter of personal progression, not attainment of material objects.

What a great question. Thats just it, happiness is not something you pursue. Happiness is something that can be found in the here and now. Realizing that is the key to happiness

true happiness is found by earning and deserving those things which are most important for you to pursue. If we didnt have to look, work for, and determine which things are truly important to us, we may not realize what we truly want. If it was so easy to find true love, people wouldnt find true love because the significant other could easily be replaced. What makes true love so special is that it is so hard to find. You can have it, you just have to make sure you look for the right signals.

Happiness is not having what one wants or needs! Happiness comes from within, it doesn't need to be pursued it needs to be ALLOWED. "Happiness" is a state of being in which an individual is content in where they are in life and with what's in their life. All that which makes up life for them including who and what they are.

its not because you are spoiled and can't have it to punish you.
You life has twists and changes throughout as you age and progress with knowlege that also changes your ideas of what you want and don't want
you seem to regret what you had not done (that you have planned to do or had interest)
however you followed a much "simpler" way according to your specific life style at the time.
but if you look back do you not see the reason why you chose a more simpler path?
maybe cause it is what fell into your lap?
so what exactly did you not get that you wanted?

I don't think you should pursue happiness. You should aim to be content most of the time. If you have a bad day, fine, if you have a good day, fine.
Good luck with your quest. You might find that you were happier on the journey to it than at the destination...

Happiness will always remain elusive when the possession of it requires having something outside of yourself.
