I live in Temecula, CA. I can't throw it in the regular trash. The recycling center wouldn't take it. Something about radiation...

there is no radiation in a microwave what kinda hicks do you live by. I would throw it on the side of the road, or you could take it to the closest dump.

here is more info I found.

DTSC and the Waste Board are relying on households to work with County Household Hazardous Waste Programs to properly dispose of these hazardous items, including:

Electronic devices: Computer monitors, TVs, cell phones, pagers, printers, computer bodies (CPUs and processors), video cassette recorders (VCRs), cordless and regular telephones, radios, and microwave ovens contain lead, cadmium, chromium, and copper.

OK so Microwaves contain Lead not radioactive material.

Its like a circle on the web, it doesn't tell you. Contact

Recycle Old Microwave

The recycling center should be able to give you suggestions on where to go to throw it out. Often, town dumps will take items like microwaves, refridgerators, etc on specially-designated days (sometimes for a fee.)
You could also call a home improvement store in the area to see what they suggest.

there is nothing radioactive in a microwave. if you cant find somebody that wants it, give it to a thrift store. otherwise, just throw it away.
