Most 'enclosed' light fixtures still have gaps somewhere on the lens or holes up in the electrical portion of the fixture.

A true enclosed fixture will be completely sealed, and are usually rated as either damp or wet location listed.

Um they are not dead at first. They find little spaces that they can fit through. They are attracted to the light and many times when they get into a fixture they are unable to get out so they just die in there. Sad ain't it?

The fixtures aren't air-sealed or anything--the bugs crawl in there to get to the light and they die.
