I have heard that there are things that should be included, but aren't automatically done. What are these things so I can ask my physician to do them?
Thank you

The reason I asked the question is that the CA-125 test for ovarian cancer is not a test that doctors automatically do even though it is the same test as the PSA for prostate screening. So even though they go to school for a long time they are not infallible. I was wondering if there were any other tests that needed to be done that aren't automatically done and I should ask for.

If this is a physical exam and not your yearly PAP. Then you want to make sure that your doc does a full blood work up, and tell him exactly that. If your doctor feels as though you are in good health he may not order extra test. If you are having specific problems now is the time to speak up.

Are you well? Are you young? Does your family have certain diseases which are genetic? Look up on your State license Board your physician and unless he has any complaints against him, then let him( or her) be the Doctor. They spend 4 years after college, 1 year internship and then at least 3 to 6 more in residency so I think most of them know what to do.
