i mean you have games like final fantasy 7, castlevania symphony of the night, or chrono trigger where there is plenty of of action and really depth stories and character development. it just seems like games are becoming created with looks first and everything second. a perfect example was gears of wars...yes fun game and looks incredible but the story sucked and you dont get that bond with the main character...i know there are some good ones out there like prince of persia, metal gear solid/s, or even god of war but its just not like how it use to be dont you think?

I respect your opinion, i know what you mean. But I do think graphics are important. Video game makers just haven't learned yet how to combine awesome graphics with an awesome story line. They focus on one or the other. But I think soon they will combine good graphics with good story lines. As far as certain games, yes I agree with you.

What the game developers make is what people want.People always whine and cry I want better graphics. And as long as they get better graphics they do not care about game play. That is why I will always be an NES,Sega fan because those games are nothing special to look at but they did the job. They kept you busy for hours on end just by the story and fighting and so forth.Games now you can just stop and look at them and that is about it.The gameplay lacks and always will as long as us gamers keep buying up these crap games the publishers are putting out. There are a few exceptions though but very few.As in Elder Scrolls 4.Awesome graphics and a hell of a storyline. But you will hardly find any titles like that anymore. Then you can look at the Wii they do not go for the best graphics which everyone can see BUT the games Nintendo puts out is alot more fun and storyline driven. One of the reasons I will always be a Nintendo fan is because of the quality of their games and not just the awe aspect of the graphics.

The graphics fight will always continue. look at the last 10 years in gaming history, also the technology seem to always be grater than the software, look at the the new consoles three core processors an the still have yet to push those limits. The games created are only to fill up the market to put more money in their pockets. Every now and then they put out a good title to keep our intristes up to just spend more money on overpriced games that fall in value the next time you see them in the game stores, and then we wonder why we paid full price for stuff that just gets cheaper with age. So yes I do feel that graphics are taking out the quality of a good game, come on graphics are the new selling point.

I don't think it is interfering with it. The problem is that the gaming society is getting horrid game producers. The higher guys aren't a big contributor anymore because you get these newbies that think they can top it by adding graphics, but it doesn't go deep enough into a story line...Graphics adds enjoyment, we just need better makers.
