During the last fuel "crisis" sales did go wild. You couldn't keep models in stock and everyone was riding. (Those were great days!) Then Ronny came to power and it became more about using then saving. Sales dropped to nothing in just a year.

The current climate is still about using and not about conserving so I don't see where prices are going to have much impact on motorcycle sales.

Fuel prices and shortages greatly affected motorcycle sales in the early '70's as well. Dealers had sales records for those years.

in California bike sales went up due to the price of gas for the first time since the stupid helmet law was crammed down our throats by bell helmets crooked politicians they bought

Seems like they have. At least the dealers around here have been selling a lot more the last couple of years.
