i bought one mail order and I can't remember the name of the nursery, but it was in northern California. Any ideas ?

I don't know where you ordered one before, but here is one on-line source of both small and medium size redwood trees, as well as a kit to grow one from seed.

No idea, but I do know it will never get as big. Redwoods only grow to thier heights in the mountains of California. It is a very unique situation. It also takes hundreds of years.
