Yes, indirectly, but so is nuclear energy.

Large atoms like those in Uranium are created during a supernova.

Yup. Every time I have made this point, some algore groupie blows a gasket.
EVERYTHING on this earth is stored solar energy.
Wind - caused by uneven heating of the earth BY THE SUN
Water/hydroelectric - Water itself is distributed around the world by evaporation which is caused by the SUN
Geothermal - the earth's core is the remnant of the entire globe being a molten glob formed while matter was collecting and congealing around the SUN.
Wood - burnable organic matter formed to store energy created by photosynthesis, fueled by SUNLIGHT.
Nuclear - maybe not technically stored solar energy, but basically produces energy with the same process as the sun. But the sun allowed us humans to thrive and learn to harness the power of the atom.
and last but not least,
OIL - rotting organic matter that grew and lived because of the SUN.
So Exxon is selling solar energy, with the aid of Halliburton. Can they have their carbon credits back?
