What do you know about Mazda Miatas? I was thinking of buying one and wanted to know if the choice would be good.

not only is it recommended by consumer reports, my wife has over 100000miles on hers and have never done anything to it other than change the oil

Hey Katie. well i own a '99' miata mx5. 132000 miles and minimal repairs. 2 people 1 car so it gets different types of driving done to it. we have been thrilled with it. it is a classic and a collectable so make budget room for general maintenance needs. great car. right now it needs a new cloth top about 1300 installed but will last 15 years. a new cd as it is fixable but the dealer just replaces it for a couple hundred bucks installed, used for used reconditioned okay. timing belt and water pump over due maintenance. fuel pump pricey but needed. 2 belts a/c relay and brake pads and tires - three sets sine 53000miles and were new then. black on tan/blck interior feels roomier. if ya want convertible fun for 2-4 people go for a sebring coupe lx convertible as repairs are 2/3 that of a miata. and cheaper insurance as the miata is a sports car by all definitions and insurance categories okay. wow if money is not a big issue for a new one the miata surpasses the saturn sky; pontiac solstice in quality fit and finsh and mpg performance and is roomier than either one of those. get the retractable hard top for security and quiter interior for trips okay. if u buy anything else u havent made a big mistake but later you will wish u chose the miata. getting around is sheer pleasurer and parking is fast and easy. good luck katie.

Well if you are looking for a very reliable, fun car that puts a smile on your face every time you drive it, go for the Miata! I am on my third one and could not be more satisfied with it. Just change the oil and filter and these cars last forever. It all depends on what you are looking for. If fun and handling are important to you go for it. It is not the most practical car due to its size but it is the most fun! Take one for a test drive and you will be hooked! Enjoy!

They are pretty popular cars. I like the new MX-5 with the retractable hardtop. They have been around for a while and people seem to like them and they keep buying them, so they should hold their resale value.
