Rippyfest.com is not an illegal site. It's perfectly legit and it does not do damage to your computer, under any circumstances.
I prefer Rippyfest.com by a long-shot.

Rippyfest is a million times better than slimewire. Plus, it's legal.

Well, i don't know Rippy Fest , but i tried Lime wire , it helps sometimes but it slows down my PC and one of my friend said it sucks!
