Assuming you have the finances and equipment to do so... First thing I would do is start small. Don't try and compete with major companies like TNA, WWE, or even the higher up indies like RoH... Start at a local or regional level, and build your fanbase there, you don't have to run a global company to be a success. Secondly, make sure you hire people who have a clue on how the business of professional wrestling works. It's all well and good to own the company, but if you don't know how to book shows and read the fans' opinions, it's a quick way to lose money. Thirdly, don't build storylines into your shows. Unless you have a television deal, or a large base of loyal supporters, storylines will do nothing except alienate fans, also be original with how your workers are seen. It's fine every now and then to have some of your workers modelled on bigger name stars, even to the point where they all but imitate the star. But your workers in general should work to their strong points, and not try to be someone their not. And finally, and perhaps most importantly, along with advertising, be unique with your shows. No-one is going to want to see and independant clone of WWE, TNA or RoH, nor would they want to see a rehash of ECW, when they can just stay home and watch the shows on TV. If you know what sort of wrestling company you want, whether it's pure wrestling, sports entertainment or something of that nature, by all means do it, but don't make it a clone... Add your own personal spin to it.

If you are starting from the very bottom then try to just break even. (Even that is hard), and once you get a bit bigger try the RoH route (they break even on the shows they run and then sell a lot of DVDs). It wouldn't hurt to open a wrestling school as this would (a) make money to subsidse any losses and (b) get a fresh supply of talent.

You'll find that Vince rules the roost with WWE.Basically he's bought out all the competition ECW, WCW.The only rival he has is TNA which is still losing money even after 5 years & promotion from Spike tv.

Have a lot of money. TNA is 5 years old (almost), are about 2 years away from even THINKING about competing with Vince and so far have lost about $20 million.

Establish yourself in both fields first, so that you can get financial backers, as well as wrestlers on your roster(s) who trust you.
