Smoking will be banned in public places soon here in wales, UK, and it's about time too! I'm fed up of adults puffing away with not a care in the world about other people. Finally, i can just have dinner with my mates without having to think about what second hand smoking is doing to me. Smokers will still be allowed to smoke but just not where it disturbs other people which i think gives all non-smokers more freedom and gives smokers a better chance to give up and be clean.

I have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, so the smoking ban means that I can go into pubs, clubs etc without suffering all night and the next dayfrom other peoples smoke making me breathless and coughing. Roll on July.

Without reservation, even better than sliced bread, I stopped a long time ago but am not too offended by a smokey atmosphere as I acclimatise easily to it, but the smell lingering on my clothes is only noticed the following morning and is atrocious.

We are the only animals that I know who gravitate towards fire (with the exception of domesticated animals), others run to be clear of the danger, and they would most definitely not breath smoke by choice.

The human animal, for all our intelligence, are ridiculously stupid in so many ways. I despair!

You criticise adults for smoking, but I see young children smoking outside the school doing the same, and teenagers defying the law in places to smoke where most realise they shouldn't, again with complete disregard for those around them.

I just hope that giving up when they have to is easier for them as fresh smokers than it was for me and all those other adults who have a long term strong craving to overcome.

You will love it! I live in LA and still can't believe when I visit towns in the US that allow smoking in public places. It's so disgusting! You'll love coming home after dinner or happy hour and not stinking.

You'll also be surprised, however, that some establishments are so dirty and full of old smoke that they will stink of cigarettes for years to come, despite the ban.

I smoke and i agree with you...it's about time us smokers were outcasts..poluting your air with our smoke...but don't ban tobacco full stop as you all will have to pay extra tax to make up the lost revenue...it's a weird thing all this as we are constantly told we die from smoking..yet the tobacco companies are liable for nothing and the government makes a very healthy profit from it...ban tobacco full stop is what isay then i have no choice but to quit

Yep that'll be very good & that's coming from a smoker!! I gotta give them crap things up!!! I think that would be so good to stop people smoking in the first place too, as I know of people who started in pubs when they were drunk, so it's all good! I think it might be a nightmare for the bouncers in pubs & clubs tho as you bound to get the ones who have had a bit to drink but spark up there fags anyway..??
bring it on!!! ; )

Yes I am, I choose not to smoke so why should I be contaminated by selfish people who have little regard for the damage they are doing to themselves and those around them. The ban cannot come quickly enough.

I completely agree with you. The ban was the only thing that gave me an incentive to give up. It's about the only good thing this government has done.

It's great up here in Scotland. We have had the ban for over a year now. I can have a night out and come home with my hair and clothes fresh - not stinking of stale tobacco.

I totally agree. I think that they should have banned smoking in public areas years ago.
