Well, I've always thought that eating a clam is what made it moist, but I suppose there are other ways to get it to that state, if you're creative...but moist is better than dry!

Sometimes you must assist on getting it moist. Depends on the clam. There are several species of clam. Bearded and smooth are 2 of those.
